A VANCOUVER ALPHABET, spring 2010
Diploma project, shot with a Rolleiflex
Letters and typography in general have always been
fascinating to me, as tools but also aesthetic objects.
They are everywhere, even where we don't expect
them to be.
And because they are engraved in our memory, we
associate them to things without even trying or noticing it.
How often do you see a V in a flying bird, or a T in a
phone pole ?
I took a closer look around to find letters hidden in the
shapes of all things surrounding me everyday.
The result is an alphabet shaped as a series of
Vancouver details.
This project is dear to me as I was leaving Vancouver
soon after these were shot, and an alphabet felt like a
very basic yet strong element to take home with me as a
recollection of the city.
